Surfside Beach Activities

The beach is 600 miles long in Texas!!  The Village of Surfside Beach has an estimated population of 763 with 21 miles of unspoiled shoreline with beach cabanas and picnic tables,  Home of the Texas beach house!

Fish.  The Gulf Coast at Surfside is know for its excellent bay and offshore fishing.  There are two fishing jetties extending one mile into the ocean.  Or take a deep sea fishing trip with Captain Kevin Martin at Surfside Beach Charters or try Third Coast Sports Fishing.  There are numerous bait and tackle shops including the one at Surfside Jetty Park at 979-239-3547.  The Crabbing Pier is located at 2210 Bluewater Highway, across from Stahlman Park.  Check out the latest fishing report!

Boating.  Call for info on boat ramps at 979-233-7351.  Bring your JET SKIS or fishing boat and have some fun!

Sea Center.  You can also visit Sea Center of Texas with aquariums (its free).

Parks and/or Waterpark.  Playland Park Waterslide is in Surfside or enjoy other various Surfside Beach Parks including the Jetty Park for great fishing.

Restaurants/Shopping.  Enjoy the local island restaurants in Surfside Beach.  Red Snapper Inn offers fresh seafood and island specialties, visit the Purple Cow for hamburgers, or try Surfside Pizzeria.  Visit “Buy the Sea” or “Anything that Fly’s” kite shop.  Rent a boogie board or surf board from Breaker Sports.  Brazos mall and Walmart in Lake Jackson are only 7 miles away.

Rent a golf cart, bicycles, boogie boards or go sailing.

Dive.  
Explore the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and the flower gardens.   A local dive shop or charter service can take you there.  We recommend www.hydrosportsscuba.com for day trips to the oil rigs or a wreck or to the flower gardens.  Or try some snorkeling right on the beaches.

Birding  in Southern Brazoria county has been ranked #1, twelve times in the past 20 years for migratory bird sightings.  Or visit Brazosport Museum of Natural Science.

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science.  Largest sea shell collection in the southern United States.  Dinosaurs, Indian artifacts, worldwide display of rocks and minerals.

Mermaids?  Actually, it was some sea cows that started that business (sort of a practical joke) and then the sailor’s imagination just took it from there.  Don’t worry though, plenty of other creatures down here to pique your interest.
